Creating Accessible Homes—Habitat for Humanity Ramp Up Program
Through the Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County Ramp Up program, our volunteers donate their time and skills to build wheelchair ramps for homeowners who are seeking better accessibility in their homes. This fix makes it possible for the homebound to go outbound and get around! This includes widening hallways, installing grab bars, building accessibility ramps, and updating flooring. We can also put you in touch with local organizations that address age-related issues including health, isolation, hunger, and lack of transportation. Revitalizing Communities—Habitat for Humanity Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative
The Neighborhood Revitalization initiative operates on the principle that “we work better together.” Homeowners, neighbors, volunteers, and local organizations donate their time to helping with projects from home repairs and rehabbing distressed properties, to planting or tending to community gardens, to offering financial literacy classes. Neighborhood Revitalization Initiatives empower residents and strengthen communities by creating a feeling of civic engagement, building a sense of responsibility and stability, and helping to preserve homes.
