Part of our mission is working to ensure that the residents of Dutchess County can remain in safe homes so they can thrive in their community. Dutchess County residents whose homes have fallen into disrepair due to financial and/or physical hardships are invited to apply to our Home Preservation Program. 

Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County offers the following service to qualified homeowners*

Aging in Place:

  • Installation/Construction of access ramps
  • Installation of grab bars

Brush with Kindness:

  • Yard Cleanup
  • Exterior painting (ground floor only, no evidence of lead paint)

Repairs:  

  • Minor porch repair
  • Minor fence repair
  • Minor carpentry repair (interior / exterior)

Unfortunately, Habitat Dutchess is unable to assist with requests for the following services:

  • Roof repair
  • Plumbing (leaks)
  • Electrical repair
  • Mold remediation
  • Extensive Interior repairs
  • Extensive exterior repairs

*A “Qualified Homeowner” is defined as a person that is the primary owner of a home in Dutchess County, that he/she currently residents, has financial challenges, and is willing to partner with Habitat Dutchess in terms of cost of material and sweat equity. Financial contribution is determined with a sliding scale.

Homeowners that are veterans of the United States armed forces receive priority consideration.
