Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur is observed on the tenth day of the month of Tishri in the Jewish calendar. This year it begins Tuesday, October 4 at sunset, and ends Wednesday, October 5 at nightfall. Known as the Day of Atonement, the Jewish holiday is spent in prayer and fasting among many people of the Jewish faith. The seven-day festival of Sukkot commemorating the wandering in the desert for 40 years, begins on the fifth day after Yom Kippur.
