Information about our Standard Homeownership Application Period will be released Spring 2023

In the meantime, we recommend that you review our Homeownership Information Brochure. It has important information that will help walk you through the Habitat Homeownership Partner program.

Please note that once an application is approved, it takes about 18 to 24 months from the time of your application is approved to the time construction is complete and home is ready to occupy. This includes securing an affordable mortgage through a Habitat approved lender.

Eligibility Information:

√ Minimum Income for all household members combined is $35,000, and the maximum income for all household members combined cannot exceed 80% of the average median income (AMI) for Dutchess County. Please refer to the chart below for the AMI information for household sizes from one to eight members:

Habitat for Humanity AMI Requirements

√ If you do not meet the income requirements, please visit our Homeward Bound page for information about the Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County Homeward Bound Program.  This program provides education about the home buying process, and the tools and resources needed to prepare for it.

Applicants must also meet all of the following qualifications for the Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County Homeownership Partner Program:

√ Willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County throughout the homebuying/homebuilding process. The time commitment in this program is approximately 18 months to two years. Partnering means performing sweat equity (the homeowner, family members, or friends assisting in the homebuilding/homebuying process) or dedicating time to serving your community in return for an affordable home, and completing Homeowner Education Classes.

√ A demonstrated need for safe, decent, affordable housing.

√ The ability for ALL members of your household age 18 or older to pass both criminal history and sexual offender history background checks.
